Celebrating Our Seniors
We are thrilled to reintroduce a series of projects specifically designed to celebrate and support our seniors. Our senior community members are a vital and cherished part of our society, bringing with them invaluable wisdom, experience, and stories that shape our collective identity. We want them to know they are never forgotten. If limited mobility keeps them from joining us, we make sure to reach out to them directly. During festive seasons and throughout the year, we bring the spirit of connection straight to their doorsteps. These initiatives are aimed at combating loneliness, boosting mental well-being, and ensuring that every senior feels respected and included. By offering companionship, thoughtful gestures, and personalised support, we hope to brighten their days and remind them that they are a treasured part of our community.
Celebrating Our Seniors initiative is led by Dr. Rashda Tabassum, a senior Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry with a wealth of experience in supporting the mental and emotional well-being of older adults. Since 2016, Dr. Tabassum has successfully led the Christmas Gift Campaign, ensuring that residents of care homes in Sutton Coldfield feel valued and remembered during the festive season. Under her guidance, the project has fostered joy and connection, with her team reaching out to deliver thoughtful gifts and spread festive cheer to residents. In addition to her work on this initiative, Dr. Tabassum serves as a board member of Age UK, where she advocates for the rights and well-being of older adults, further highlighting her dedication to improving seniors' quality of life. Her deep passion for enhancing the lives of elderly individuals and her thorough understanding of their unique needs have made her an indispensable figure in the community, with her ongoing efforts continuing to positively impact the lives of many seniors.
